some fun stuff today at the model T garage, put on by the Long Beach club and Bob Schwinck. One of my favorite things about the model T club is this event.Always several things going on and lot's of hands on work for those that want to learn. Hat's of to Bob and the Long Beach club for this monthly event!! Straight'end my exhaust manifold, came out very good. Check out this rear end we took apart to see what was up, owner noticed something not felling right last couple of times he took it out. The car or old truck I should say was still going down the road!
working on the manifold
Damaged parts
The bearing had come apart and the sleeve on the drive shaft had been destroyed completely. The biggest pieces were not more than 1 inch long by maybe 1/2 inch. Those pieces went right through the gear teeth! Chewed them up better than a garbage disposal ! Also amazed us, allot of the parts still look usable. It did not destroy everything like you would think - amazing.
Good fun :-)
John Craig having fun on his 1920 soon to be runabout?
Now that's what I call a Great play day. I can smell the rust. I think the Parking Meter in the last photo is expired.
Thanks for posting Tom. The garage is always a good place to learn more about our favorite car (The Model T).
