I try to get up somewhere in the mountains every couple of weeks or so. One of my favorite trips is Trail Ridge. I was up Trail Ridge on the opening day a couple of weeks ago. One of my usual stops is Sheep Meadows to stretch my legs. The Park service usually has volunteer workers there to interpret the area. For some reason this day one of the volunteers was carrying an Elk Antler around the parking lot and showing people. He asked me if I wanted to take a picture of him standing by the T with the antler.
If you look just above the center top of the 16 you will a green peak. At the top of the peak you can see Rainbow Curve, at 10,847 feet. It looks like it at the top of Trail Ridge, but it is only half way. the road continues around back and keep going up to over 13,000 feet.
Last year some of the people from out of state that was coming on the LEAF PEEPER TOUR wanted to do Trail Ridge while they were in Colorado so we added an extra OPTIONAL DAY to the tour. The funny thing was every one on the regular tour did the optional day up Trail Ridge, so this year we will do the same and add the optional day up the Ridge. The trip up the Ridge for those that are interested is scheduled for FRIDAY Sept 28th.

lSorry for the lack of pictures. Every since Kodak sold out I have been having problems. I will try again but the picture of the volunteer holding the antler will not be part of them.
