Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2013: OT - what plug gap for Bosch magneto?

I identified one cylinder that was not firing on the DU6 Bosch mag. It was the back cylinder, and the plug was over 32 thousands, and black and sooty.

I cleaned the plug and set it to 25. It is firing now (for the time being anyway). The cylinder was firing fine on coil. Does anyone know what the mag plug gap should be?

The plug seemed to fire at speed, but was missing at low rpm (mag).

Thank you,

Rob

i believe the bosch booklet states .018 for the DU-4..... should be the same for the DU-6

Thanks Tim. I assume the black soot is due to over rich, and the wide plug gap contributed to the problem.

Thanks again,

Rob

"The plug seemed to fire at speed, but was missing at low rpm"

This is an often heard comment, but the miss is still there and is being masked by the other cylinders.
