Can anybody recommend a specialist "T" engine builder around Los Angeles, San Francisco area?
Cheers,
Rob

Larry Blair at "The Tin Shed" on Dice Road in Santa Fe Springs. About 30 mi. east of Los Angeles.

Larry does high quality work at a fair price. Very knowledgeable. Stock or modified, your call.

Look on the M.T.F.C.A. main page. Click on the vendors tab.

What kind of engine, Rob?

I hear Erik Barrett is good (I've not had any work done by him myself). However, Auburn CA is not exactly a seaport.

Thanks Wayne.

Ralph,
A starter/generator engine, but warmed over for my '15 speedster project. Scat crank, high comp head, etc. (I cant afford one of Mark Chaffin's beauties though)
Cheers,
Rob

I have had Erik do some engine work for me. Erik is honest, quick, and inexpensive. More important than that he really knows T's. He can do special fabrication in addition to all machining, babbit work etc. He has access to correct parts and knows what is correct for all production T's... including TT. He even has KW pan straightening equipment!

I'm running my "new" 1913 with a pan straightened by Erik and coils rebuilt by his father, Roger. Even though it runs great Roger has suggested I bring the coils in for a "thousand mile check"... free checkup!

Erik stands behind his work... easy to do when you do things right there is very little "come-back".

He is located in Auburn, Ca. He frequently reads this forum and can be contacted through it: http://www.mtfca.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-profile.cgi?action=view_profile&profil e=erik_barrett-users

Erik is also very proficient with speedsters and all early Buicks!

I get nothing from recommending Erik... unless you include that keeping him working on T's keeps him available to help me out when needed!

Erik Barret has done babbit work for me and will soon do my next babbit job.
He knows model T and model A engines well for sure.
It has been a year since he did the last model A I rebuilt but I think he had the block for a week or 10 days. Maybe less, anyway it was quick turn-around time.
I always get rods from Ron's Machine in Ohio, only $11.75 to ship each way (cores & rebabbited rods).

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your answers.
I'll be in touch with both of them shortly.
Cheers,
Rob
