Hello,

This is the manifold setup on my 1925 Model T Runabout. I have not seen another setup like this. Anyone know anything about it? Should I keep it or remove it? Thanks.

Neat idea, EGR recycle plus engine heat for bad gas.

Personally, I think you'll notice the car run WAY better if you take that contraption off. Back in the day with some bad gas it probably ran as well or better than anyone else's, but it's just not necessary now. You have a TON of intake restriction with the current set up. You'll probably notice better acceleration and gas mileage with that removed. I'd keep though, just as conversational wall art.

Just my humble opinion though.

I partly agree with Seth. You probably can get more power under most weather conditions without the heater/recycle pipe but I would bet you get better gas mileage with it on. You choose, more power or better gas mileage.

You think it's a home made set up or a period correct aftermarket part??

With the CC vent, an inch or two of water will also help reduce oil leaks by keeping a slight vacuum or negative pressure on the CC. Less oil vapor to smell too... ws

Nowell,

I just got one and put it on the touring.
It works as the claim.
Great period accessory.
Here is an earlier forum posting.

Enjoy.

Mr. Hatch,

Call me suspicious but it sounds like you really want my manifold set up for yourself :-)

I dont have a comment regarding performance or mileage but id say if you are satisfied with your performance then i would leave it on. I love seeing old period accs on cars. Realistically, model ts with accs is how it really would have been back in the 20s

Nathan - Your comment,....."realistically, Model "T's with accs is how it really would have been back in the '20's."

You make a very good point, and I can't help but think that there a quite a few "T" guys that would hate to admit that those readily available accessories "back in the '20's" included several brands of distributors! However,.....there it is, whether they like it or not!
