Thanks everyone who provided help to me regarding the difference between a cutout and a voltage regulator. I wanted to start a new thread as a follow up. I read the voltage regulator instructions on the funprojects site and mine is an original 6 volt, coil and magneto system. I installed the rebuilt generator, which I purchased on ebay for $75.00 and the new funprojects voltage regulator. I got it hooked up and started my car and, just as the directions specify, the ammeter needle fluctuates between +8 and +10 amps, so now I no longer have to charge my battery using a charger. Thanks again everyone. Jim Patrick

$75 ??? Must be a Krylon Rebuild. :-) A brush plate rebuild and field coils are more than that. A rewound armature is about $100. Add the bearings and it can't possibly be rebuilt for $75. You might want to keep a spare on hand.

I agree. I couldn't believe I got it for that (2 years ago), as most of the ones I was watching on ebay were going for double that. Sometimes it's all in the timing and who's watching the auction at the time. I should point out that my proxy bid on esnipe was $177.00 and at the end of the auction when I saw that I got it for $75, I was floored. Regardless, it was a great deal and it works great. I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks for your help. Jim Patrick
