Hello,

I need to have a few spots repaired on my 1925 Runabout's convertible top. How does the material separate from the bars so the upholstery guy can work on it? Thanks!

Nowell,
It would be much easier if it can be repaired on the car.

If you have to remove it you have to remove the "Hidem" trim and then remove all the tacks that hold the fabric to the bows.

Thanks Jim,

I will pass that info onto the upholstery guy. Maybe I was jumping the gun and thats what he had planned to do. I will ask him.

If it's an original top, SAVE every piece. It will make good patterns. A 1925 Runabout top is a one year only top with the big rear window.

A rip can be repaired by hand using a "baseball" stitch. If you need a panel replaced, that's another matter. If your top repairman doesn't know how to remove the top, you better find another one who does.

Baseball stitch: Look at a baseball and see how its sewn together.
