The Seattle Mariners today had there "turn back the clock" game to 1909. In the reinactment they had a Model T deliever President Taft to to his seat before the game. I don't know if it was a T or not our Cable connection was down until the 2 inning. Will look for a picture in the paper tommorow. Just saw a replay and there a little out of date ,it was a 26-7 Coupe ( o well it was a T.)
Bob
President Taft weighed about 400 pounds. I don't think he would fit in a Model T coupe!
I think this is a Pierce town car, maybe 1909:
Packard, about 1907:
Bob, I believe Walt Berdan was using his T Coupe to haul Taft at the old ball game. W
It was my coupe and the "President Taft" look alike was a pretty good representation. A rather portly gentleman who bears a striking resemblance. The Mariners weren't particularly concerned that in 1926 Taft was a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court rather than the sitting president. He very effectively filled the passenger area and had a bit of a challenge getting in but all was well for taking him out to throw the first pitch.
The game poster shows my Coupe with a few of the players.
Walt
Bob & Walt, I'm with Royce about the original President Taft, he would not be able to get into a coupe. However great photos and Thank you for sharing.
Happy motoring, Warren
Thanks Walt, great picture.Must get one of the posters.
