Any suggestions on how to remove bolt from 1916 fan? Bracket is stuck on the bolt and the bolt head has no place to really grip it. Was there a special wrench for the 16 bolt head? Can the fan pulley on a 16 be rebushed? I don"t see any listing in the catalogues for bushings?

There was no bushing, the entire hub is made from brass. Of course you could bore out the hub for a bushing.

An ordinary open end wrench fits the bolt. Be sure to remove the grease fitting first, as the grease fitting is the lock nut for the shaft.

The bolt in front of the fan has only two sides to grip. It is about an eighth of an inch and recessed and a wrench will not grab on to the bolt head.

Richard, you will find it easier to remove the fan and arm as a unit. Once it's off you can screw the shaft out by putting the jaws of a crescent wrench on the flats of the shaft with the handle of the wrench in line with the shaft. If it's really tight for some reason, a second crescent wrench can be used across the jaws of the first to turn it.

Hope this helps.

Richard, have you enough thread to put two plain nuts on the threaded end of the bolt? Maybee you can lock them together and work on turning the bolt out a bit so you can get a wrench on the other end.

Hope this helps.
