Hi guys..

1916 muffler. I purchased new cylinders, but don't know if the side holes on the inner two cylinders go towards the engine end or the rear end.

Any help?

Thanks!

Michael

I think if you arrange them to give the longest path for the exhaust gas you would be correct.

The middle tube goes towards the engine, as Ted says, the longest path. When I replaced mine 4mos ago with orig. style for '26/'27 , I lost power. I added to more holes to the middle tube 0f 1inch dia. and two holes to the steel end piece. Breaths better and still has that wonderful percolating T sound.
