Finally have to pull the hogshead to change bands on our 15 roadster. Do you need to pull the exhaust manifold off to clear the head from not scuffing up The coil ring?

Jay,

Under the right quadrant of the moon in the right solar year when Mercury is in retrograde and when Pluto was still a planet...you 'might' be able to get it to clear the exhaust manifold. Seriously, in my experience it is within a thread of being an 'almost'. So close I'll bet on some manifolds you might actually get by.

You have to take the exhaust pipe off anyway, so it really is easier to pull the exhaust manifold complete.

Jay

I just pulled the hogshead on my 15 touring. I definately had to disconnect the exhaust pipe and also removed the exhaust manifold.

I'm not sure it was absolutely necessary to remove the manifold, but it was easy enough to do and I didn't want anything interfering with a nice clean easy reinstallation of the cover.

Good luck!

Well I got impatient and went ahead and pulled the hogshead without removing the exhaust manifold this morning and it went OK. However it was no way Jose trying to get it back on without removing the Exhaust manifold. Being lazy doesn't always pan out.

If it will come off with the exhaust manifold in place, it'll go back on with it there too. I've done it more times than I care to remember.
