I came upon the the following item on the web. It is a day-to-day account of a trip currently underway from West Virginia to the West Coast. I suspect some readers of the forum will have more details about this story.

I've always like touring cars with wire rims. I just think they look really good.
That's a nice looking car.

This is what it's all about. Preservation, restoration or original our cars need to be driven. Not stored in a garage under a blanket.
Someday, Im going to make a trip like that. Those folks are living the dream!
Will, Plan it and do it. It is well worth the time. I am speaking from experience from my last summer's drive from Lincoln, Ne to San Diego and back. It was the experience of a lifetime. Loved every minute of it.
I agree with Steve. Step one: Decide to do it. Step two: Do it. In 2006 I planned a 48 state trip. I had a couple of dozen folks that were going to do it with me. When all was said and done, every single one backed out leaving just me and my wife. We went 10,000 miles in my 26 coupe in 42 days. It was the trip of a lifetime.
Too cool. My first trip will be from Dixon to Ely Mn. Following the Blackhawk Highway then the Mississippi Valley Highway to Ely.
This couple are friends of ours. They started their trip from Pine Grove, Pa. They were headed to the National tour in Utah and have made it. After the tour they are heading to CA before their return trip to Pa.
I see he's running an E-Timer. Hmmm...
Good for him and thanks for the heads up on the blog. I intend to follow!

I don't know if you will see this post or not, but if you come through Colorado and Need anything let me know. I know what it is like being in a strange state far from home and not knowing anyone. I have done some cross country trips by myself, I have a few parts and can be reached at 303-774-9246. Don't hesitate to call if you need to.

Do you have a map of how you covered the lower 48 in 42 days? Seems like a lot of driving in a short space of time.
Dave, here is my route.
