Anyone out there that sells rebabbitted or re-babbits main bearing caps offer machining of the rear main trust bearing surface on the rear cap to ones specific measurement between the crank thrust flanges? I was never fond of hand filling them down as per the Ford service manual when backyard overhauling a motor.
Do a search in this forum for "main bearing cap" , there was a great thread on how to do this on a lathe using another old main bearing cap and some round stock to mount it on. It looked pretty simple.
