I need some help here guys, I'm working on the Holley Vaporizer. But for the life of me I can't see where that blasted helical heater goes inside this thing. Does it go in the manifold chest area? or someplace up by the outlet pipe? I know this cross section doesn't show the mixture needle and how it fits into it or some of the other probably key components. This is just a cross section I found on the net (an excerpt from a manual) that was so muddy that I traced it in color to make it clearer. But I'm still sort of lost, on how the parts I see in Snyders and Langs go or fit into it.

I make these sometimes to help me better understand the workings and parts positions. Some of this stuff I could only guess at, because the drawing was trying to show fuel and air flows through the carb...the air passages were fine, but the fuel passages were black, and really muddied things up.

If somebody out there has photos of what this carb looks like apart? I'd appreciate you posting them.

Check this old thread Martin. Use the Keyword search button at the top of each page to search old postings. I entered the words vaporizer heater and below that changed keyword options to AND.

Thanks, a lot Garnet! That's a great help...I didn't think of it winding around the air tube like that. And I make that search, there must be lots of stuff on this contraption.

I guess what you find in a keyword search depends on what you type in. Entering one word will probably bring hundreds of messages so you have to use multiple words ... and choose them wisely to reduce the unwanted results.

I also want to say thanks for the drawings you have been posting Martin. I'm sure they will become a frequent source of reference for us all.

Martin. Looks pretty good, I did notice you're have the drain valve gasket on the wrong side of the float bowl. The gasket seals between the valve and the bowl.

Any one have a problem with gas leaking pass the drain valve threads causing a rich mixture? I did till I put some sealer on them. Also the original drain valve had a hole completely through the valve(as shown on Martin's drawing) requireing a disk or stopper of some kind to prevent gas from the bowl to by pass the mixture valve. The new drain valve does not have the hole completely through so not a problem now.

Gary

the vaporizor drain valve does not have a hole through from the top, while the NH does. They're different part numbers and the Vaporizor is frequently rebuilt with the wrong part.

Scott, Thanks. That explains one thing. However the drawing in Drakes shows the hole going through with some kind of blocking disk. Maybe soldered to the valve? How did NH do it? I would like to see what that part looks like.
