Yes, I hope that I have solved or at least started to solve the lack of power problem, that I have been having this summer. Got a new timer from Lang's and installed it yesterday, then went for a test drive, which showed promising results. When I got home I checked the head bolts for tightness, all were fine. I also noticed some gray smoke around the manifolds so I tightened each one and with each one I was able to turn them a 1/4 to a 1/2 turn. Today I will take Sambuca out for another test run and see if that improves the power even more.

Beautiful vehicle !!!
Warren, it is Sunday morning and I am confused, is the vehicle for catching "Old Dogs" or is the driver an "Old Dog" ???????
The T does look nice.
Thanks Daryl. Willie, thanks for viewing. I'm the "Old Dog" and catching old dogs is easier than catching young dogs. Any thoughts about tightening up on the manifold bolts helping increase power.

Sambuca ran like the champ that he is! Maintaining around 30mph (route 13 in Goffstown / Dunbarton, NH) on average going up normal grades and even as fast as 45mph on a flat stretch of open road (route 114 in Goffstown, NH). So as a reward I gave him a full tank of petrol and changed the oil.

Tightening manifold bolts may have helped, if you had a vacuum leak, but my money is on the timer.
"Sambuca is an Italian anise-flavored, usually colorless, liqueur."
Or a screen side model T dog Catcher's truck.
I had to look it up.
I think your correct Hal, the timer was the key. Tightening the manifold bolts, seemed to stop the gray smoke around the manifolds, but I never detected any link on either manifold. Steve's correct about Sambuca being an Italian liqueur. It being licorice flavor and black that plus a beautiful Black Percheron were the reasons for calling my T Sambuca.

Warren,
I once had a team of gray Percherons. My last team were Belgians.
I never thought of naming them after liquor....but I did once have a team of mules named Jim and Jack....maybe that counts.
You know? A true Tennessean would have named them Jack and George.
What ever you call your T works for me.
