i am rebuilding the motor in my 27 and just got it back from the machine shop. i was wondering since it is a 27 with the short bearing do i need to put the thrust washers in on the front of the cam and if i do will it hurt anything. the book says from 25 and before.

Jay, it should work without a thrust washer, but I think it is "good medicine" to install one.

Philip -- I too recommend Ford-N-More. I have used several of their cams and have been well-pleased with them.

That's Tom Carnegie's business, BTW. And since he and virtually every member of his family (except Brooke :-) ) are Montana 500 winners, I'd say he knows a thing or two about cams.

I have purchased several reground cams from F&M and they are done well. They do offer several choices so talk your needs over with them. Also, as noted above, there is a factor of "road run" experience at work there.

Norfleet in Dallas, TX also does a good job. I am running one of their cams in my coupe and have a spare on the shelf for my next engine.
