There were aluminum pistons made back in the day that looked a lot like the standard iron pistons and used the same 1/4 inch iron rings that the iron pistons used. It has been a long time since I have seen one, And that does not look like one. It looks iron in the photograph to me. As others said, try a magnet. Please, I think many of us would like to hear for sure.
Most original era after-market aluminum pistons for model T Fords were also higher compression. But not all of them were. I also, many years ago, saw an original after-market high compression piston made for a model T, that was cast iron.
