You can tell how old they are by checking the price per gallon on the pump. The REALLY OLD ones have gas for under $.50.

I remember about 35-40 years ago in the 1970s, there were lots of places were old electric pumps were stored. Every junkyard usually had a pile of them waiting to be scrapped. At the time, I was only interested in the older visible pumps. I had seen a few restored electric pumps but very few were interested in them yet. I thought about buying some of them, thinking that they might be valuable someday. But they were just old used gas pumps to me. It was hard to think that they would ever be worth much—especially since there were so many. Now I wonder what happened to them. They were kind of like the passenger pigeon. The old pumps seemed to blacken the landscape being so many. Now they are getting hard to find.
