I rebuilt the 5 ball carb on the 09 and changed out the original needle and seat with a new needle with a viton tip and a new seat. I also made an adjustable screw on the float so I could have a infinite adjustment. The weight of the needle is greater than the head pressure created by the gas. My question to the carb guru's, are you using a needle with a some sort of pull off connected to the float? Steve
You will probably (WILL) need a little U shaped "clip" that comes with many soft tipped needles.
They are notorious for sticking in the seats.
Does the needle have a tiny groove in it near the top end?
If so that's what it's for.
The clip thingy hooks to the needle and then to the float arm so when the float calls for more fuel it pulls the needle off the seat.
I had to modify (shorten up the needle) to get everything in place. Yes I think your correct, I can add a groove to the needle and install the hook to the adjustment screw. I guess I was hoping there was an easier fix to the problem I created. Gravity just isn't being very kind to me.
