I pickup the Model K today (a little cosmetic work) and begin packing for next weeks trip to Detroit. I'm at the Adoba Hotel. It looks like it is close to Greenfield Village. Does anyone know if a person is able to walk, or drive an old car between this Hotel and the Village? Anyone else staying there?

Rob

Rob,

That is the former Hyatt Hotel at the Fairlane Shopping Center. Easiest way to the Village from there is to go directly west from the hotel to Evergreen Road, then south to Michigan Avenue (US-12), then west again to Oakwood Blvd, then south on Oakwood to the Triple E Building (left at traffic signal) to OCF Registration. I've taken that route in my Model T so your Model K should have no trouble.

OCF

The other route is to take the Southfield Service Drive (M-39) to Village Drive, across the Village and Museum complex to Oakwood and turn right to get to the Triple E Building.

At least Triple E is where registration has been the last few years. If you decide to trailer take the same route and the trailer parking is in the parking lot for the Triple E Building. {That is the building with Henry Ford's office.}

Tom,

Thanks for the map. A change in plans. Originally I tried to get a room at Comfort Inn with other Early Ford Registry friends. They were full, and I made reservations at Adoba.

Now,,a room opened up at Comfort Inn, and since it appears closer, I switched reservations.

Do you know (or anyone familiar with the area) if there is an easy back road from Comfort Inn to THF?

Rob

The Comfort Inn is quite close to the Village. The problem is that railroad tracks separate the two. I don't believe that there are any shortcuts to get back and forth.

In fact, the Comfort Inn is so close to the railroad tracks you can hear the train.

Tim,

Excellent, we'll "jump the tracks" with the Ks and drive into the village :-)

See you in a few days,

Rob

Bruce,

I believe John Grace and others have every "alphabet" Ford lined up to attend. I heard even the Model B will be there (from THF). Has anyone else heard the same rumor?

Rob

Rob,

Basically the same as if you stayed at the Adoba. Comfort Inn is a little closer, and, except for having to make a U-turn in Michigan Avenue (US-12) to get to Oakwood Blvd, is easier to get to Greenfield Village.

Comfort Inn to OCF

Looking forward to seeing and hearing your Model K.

Comfort Inn. That's where I'm staying. See you there.

The Comfort Inn is the best. You drive under the railroad tracks so that is not a problem. When you leave for Greenfield Village you hang a right, then another right and you are in Greenfield Village. It's as easy as pie. Our 1927 Model T Roadster will be there.

Looked at street view on Google. This is assuming that you have your T at the hotel like we do, you would leave the hotel in your T, right onto Michigan Ave, then right onto Southfield Rd., then right onto Village Rd. This road will take you right to Greenfield Village, very little traffic. We leave our car hauler at the hotel and drive our T around. See you there!

Tom, thanks. Dave and Diane, see you there. I should arrive Wednesday night. I'm probably on the Dearborn to Lansing Tour THu-Fri then back at Comfort Inn Friday and Saturday evening. See you there,

Rob
