I came across this auction in Oct in Texas. WIll the king of bargains be there?

Looks like about an eight or nine hour drive down I-35. "to be scheduled for October 2013...Multi-Dates!" Hmmm... Maybe. These things are usually a feast for the high rollers, but most times they let me have a few crumbs that fall off the table.
And a Tex/Mex Cuisine opp.
Too Far for me but with the mix of Ford Buick and Studebaker I would love to go.
Bastrop, Texas! Great! I bet George House and I will be there. That's practically in George's back yard and I'm about 90 miles from there.
I might get another chance to drive that 85mph highway 130 again.
Dang !! Thats only 30 miles away Bill !! And I hadn't heard of it yet.. . .many thanks! I just hope Willie Cordes doesn't see this so I might get to buy something. I hope the auction isn't 2,3,4 and 5 October because thats the dates of the Texas T Party that'll be in Lufkin this year.
Geo.,the Cordes probably won't be there, but I will, if the dates don't conflict with the T Party.
Better save your pennies.
Don Vagasky presently in Eureka Springs,
We will be there in force. Currently in eureka springs, hillbilly tour
Pretty close to my house in Georgetown. It will be well attended, I won't expect any bargains.
Looks like Steve better stay home with all these money bags going down there!
Noel
You'd think so, wouldn't you? But I've been to a couple of big ones, with high dollar folks from all over the country attending, and both times I came away with some good items because even they can't buy it all, or because they didn't want it all. The big sales with lots of stuff can produce a few bargains.
Yeah, I once saw Steve at an auction buy a beer box full of NOS babbitt thrust washers for only $1.00 !! . . . . ;o)
Ya all should make an agreement and not bid against each other to maximize the ability to get bargains.
Like that would work for more than a second!
George/Steve - Hmmmm....... "a beer box full of NOS babbitt thrust washers for only $1.00!!"
I'd like to think that the thought there was merely for an inexpensive source of babbitt metal!!
(.....or,....maybe Steve thought there would be beer in a "beer box",....grin,....harold
I hope it's a little later in October. We might be in some bearable temperatures by then. You guys better watch out for George. He'll buy stuff just to keep the hoarders from getting it.
I think it would be good to have the auction as one of the stops on the Texas T Party tour. Kinda far from Lufkin though.....
Back to the question. I think we'll know how far
Steve will travel when he shows the load of parts
he hauls home. ( pictures please Steve). Grin
Bob
Is the machine in one early picture some sort of a coil tester?
I skipped over this post earlier, but GEORGE you are probably out of luck. Unless this is on T party week, I WILL be there.
I do not remember meeting Steve ever, maybe I finally will after reading so many of his post.
So far I've gone to long distance auctions in southeast Nebraska, western South Dakota, and east central Missouri. Dunno about this one, but maybe.
Fred, believe it or not, I've seen that happen. Just last week I dropped out of the bidding for something I wanted but didn't need when I saw who was bidding on it. And other T guys have done the same for me.
I really did buy some babbitt thrust washers, just for display, because I didn't have any that were still in one piece.
Edmiston auction, Nebraska
Suchardt auction, South Dakota
Both Steve and Stan backed off and let me get a few spark plugs and coils at the Suchardt auction.
Steve!
I could have saved you a buck! I have three or four non-broken Babbitt washers. I could have sent you one. But it sounds as though the ones you bought may be nicer.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
