Pulled apart my coupelet's differential today and found I need a new ring & pinion and axles.

Is there a preference for which supplier I buy these items from in respect to quality of product?.

Thanks in advance.

Chaffin's

With respect to the ring and pinion, I believe there is currently only one manufacturer, Mark Auto. It's either that or hunt for good used Ford gears.

The axle shafts perhaps there are two manufacturers, Chaffins and Texas T Parts. Anyone else I believe is reselling parts from one or the other. Both are great quality, I would not hesitate to buy either one's products.

Since you live in California I agree that Chaffin's would be the logical place to buy, especially if you can pick the parts up in person. Shipping cost is more of a consideration than anything else.

Phillip, this is just a suggestion. I would get the axle shafts that are 1/16" longer on the taper. Most hubs are worn which causes the wheel to go onto the axle too far. The slightly longer taper will make up for this and eliminate the need to use shims to move the wheel back where it should be. Every rear end that I've rebuilt using standard length axles has needed shims. The fordor has a new ring and pinion set made by Mark Auto. They seem to be very good quality.

Stephen
