I just brought my 10 out of moth balls this morning and noticed something pretty unusual, at least for this car. I run a 5 ball and it is very sensitive. Up until today, I always ran the needle 1/2 open from a dead closed position. If I moved it a hair counterclockwise, it ran too rich, a hair the other way it ran too lean. Its run that way for years. Now I have to open the needle another 1/4 turn to get it to run right. Had I done that last year, the engine would have flooded and died. I ran it about 20 miles this morning and I could not change the setting without the motor missing.
What do you suppose caused this to happen? I've brought the car out of moth balls a bunch of times in the past but this is the first time this happened. Car seems to run fine, no issues to report after about 20 miles of driving. Its got me puzzled.

Check the air passages for an insect or spider. Did you have fresh fuel or old fuel?

Dried out gasket, (from lack of use), between carb & intake manifold now leaking air. You need more gas to compensate.

I bet one of the balls is stuck open slightly. Today's rotten E10. It's getting worse and worse.

I agree with Jerry. Since you're having to give it more gas, it must be getting more air from somewhere. If not between the carb and manifold, maybe between the manifold and block.
