I am putting in new gaskets, the heavy duty type on both exhaust and intake manifold (vaporizer). I would like to help them seal with RTV. Anyone ever done this, will it work?

I use it on the exhaust manifold gaskets of my 1971 GTX, it works fine. Be sure to use the red high temperature stuff, and let it cure completely before starting the engine.

We use Permatex Ultra copper on model airplane chainsaw gas engine mufflers with no gaskets...Works well...

I use the red on my cars with vap's, putting a liberal amount around both sides of the copper rings. NEVER use the flat composition gaskets! My cars have run for years with no manifold problems between engine work.
