It is interesting to see that what we think as modern technology has been around for many hundreds of years.

It's the application of said technology that makes the difference.

In my senior year in college we had a capstone class as they called it that looked at technology and how it developed. The teacher had a PH'd or doctorate in electronics theory. We watched a series of TV shows called "Connections". This show showed how technology was developed and then used to solve other problems that the original inventor didn't think about. We also had to read some books and do the dreaded book report which I was not a fan of.

Thanks for posting the video, my 7-year old daughter watched it with me and thought it was kool. I love exposing her to this type of material.

When I attended engineering college a professor visited from the University of Michigan. He programmed a main frame IBM computer that would actually say words! Can you imagine such a thing? Sounded like a computer talking and was most impressive.

By the time I completed my education my daughter had a doll with a chip that spoke words!

Technology moves very quickly
