This is off-topic, but about an important piece of American history that was built in 1927; The Delta Queen Steamboat. She ran until 2008, when she lost her exemption from the Safety of Ships at Sea law, an exemption that had been granted numerous times by congress since the law was enacted in 1966 with a minor flaw that applied to any overnight boat on the American Inland Rivers. Since 2008, a small group of Steamboat aficionados have been working to bring back this important piece of our history. Part of this effort has been to get the exemption back—and now we may succeed! There is a bipartisan bill in the house to grant the exemption; HR1961. It is on the House agenda to be voted on this Wednesday. A quick note to your representative to vote in favor may make the difference!
This will help return the Delta Queen back to traveling the rivers at no direct cost to the taxpayers—we aren’t looking for funding, only for permission to run.
BTW, The Delta Queen has an impeccable safety record over 85 years!
Thanks!
I was on one of her last trips. Beautiful old gal. She should be back cruising!
Where does this stand now?

Ted,
The vote is Wednesday, the 25th. We think it will pass, but one never knows with congress!
