Got a call from 248-742-3843

Caller ID said "Private name". There was a voice in a thick accent with the sounds of a call center in the background.
He said that he was from the Social Security Medicare Verification Center, that they were sending out new Medicare cards, but that he had to verify my information first.
He gave my address and phone number, both of which were correct.
Then he said that he needed to know the name of the bank where my Social Security payments were deposited.
I answered that I would not give him that information.
He said that he already had the information, he just needed to verify it.
He added that thousands of people used the same bank and he needed to do was verify the information.
I repeated that would not give out that info on the phone and he hung up

Got a text from a co-worker of mine last Sat. night. There's a similar scam going around involving A.T.& T.

Caller I.D. showed "A.T.& T. Customer Service". The caller asked questions that A.T.& T. should have already known such as credit info. The caller asked my friend several times for credit info. before my friend just hung-up. This was on his cell phone.

He immediately called A.T.& T. They told him it was a scam. They never do verifications like that over the phone. He then found out that someone had been making un-authorized purchases at the Apple Store.

These scumbags are getting better all the time. Watch it!
