I broke the top section of window glass this weekend - just a crack but something I need to fix.
My question is, Can I remove the top glass section by removing the wing nuts and the threaded studs or is it necessary to loosen the stanchions? If the answer to my question is NO, is there any way to remove and replace this section without removing the stanchions?
Car is newly painted - hate to chance messing up the paint if it is not necessary.

Thanks

I was able to remove the window sections on my '26 by bowing the stantions out just enough to clear the wing nut studs.

Looks like that might work as there only appears to be about 1/4" of thread protruding. Did you do that because the stud would not come out or you didn't want to bung the threads up? Did you have to loosen the nuts on the stanchions?

James:

Had the same happen last month.... frame flexed at rear view mirror, one bump in the road shattered the safety glass.

Agreed with removing lower section wing nuts to get slight stanchion movement on one side to remove top section.

Go to a busy glass shop, they should have the safety glass & cut to size.... cheaper than our vendors. May have to get the glass setting tape from vendor, I could not find locally.

Good Luck
