Well--the Weather Channel was right! It's pouring down rain and the wind is blowing. Satellite gone out twice. Supposed to stop about dark, but 40% Thurs, 30% Fri. Worse news is for the HCCA/AACA 2nd Hershey Hangover Tour Sun & Mon -- 30% each day. My new side curtains may come in handy!

They need to move Hershey to California - nothing but sun in the forecast.

Wouldn't be Hershey without "weather".... Mud, rain, wind.... Then again this weather system is on the move north/northeast. should be nice later today & tomorrow, slight chance of "meatballs" on Thursday, better on Friday & Saturday.

Won't make it this year.

Those of us who actually LIVE around Hershey are glad to see rain after several months of very dry weather. The show is not open today anyway.

The rest of the week looks great! Some clouds, but mostly sun.

Dan B:

Thanks for the confirmation, us Jersey-ites rely on the "Weather Channel". Wish we could be there for another Hershey experience.

The closer you get to the actual day, the more the forecast changes. Last week the ten day forecast had it sunny and in the seventies. Now it shows 50% chance of rain on Friday. I have my umbrella.

Forecast changed again! Now calling for 70% rain Thurs and Fri and 30% Sat. Better cover a lot of ground today before the rain comes and the small goodies get put away.

I've only been to Hershey twice in the past (both times were sunny) and am going tomorrow and Friday.... I don't know what to expect from the vendors due to weather. So if it rains, do they put everything away or cover it up and leave; or do they sit tight and tough it out? Am I wasting my time if I go?

James - that's the 10 thousand dollar question. You could overhear everyone talking about the impending weather today. A lot of vendors are under tents. It's YOU that will get rained on. To me, it seems that vendors have become less tolerant compared to 15 years ago. Back then, it was all grass fields and people walked through 6 inches of mud to buy parts. And the vendors didn't head home until Saturday.

Some of the best deals can be had at the end of the show or in bad weather.

James: Report from my street in the swap meet. There were about 25% empty spaces before today. Now that the weather has been called 65% to 70% empty. Same with the rest of the Fields. I will be on my way South tomorrow, not going to sit there and watch it rain. Dan

Today was the first year that wed felt like the normal Friday, seemed so many empty spaces and people talking about leaving tonight already , today was a very nice day though , cool n breezy

The weather seems to affect the vendors a lot more than the buyers. My first purchase, after finally getting spaces, was a good 10 x 20 canopy with sides and ends. My second was ten 5-gallon carboys that I filled with water on arrival and used for weights to hold the canopy down. During my years in the old muddy White field, I sure got a lot more business with three-fourths of the other vendors vamoosed.

Sure glad I didn't waste $1000.00 for diesel and a camp spot to sit and watch it rain.

This whole thread cracks me up. The title alone is like saying "Bells ring on Sunday". I've been going to Hershey for 20 years and I can count on one hand the times we had sun for the whole show. Rain is synonymous with Hershey and it has never ruined my fun.

On a side note, saw a LOT of Model T's for sale today in the flea market. There was a decent '23 Centerdoor on the Chocolate that caught my eye. And my Dad bought a set of floorboards from RV Anderson's brother Johnathan. Top quality as always!

Every time I get away from my spot someone shows up wanting to buy something, so, I haven't got to look much. Stopped and looked at one place where the guy had 2 turtledecks. He was asking 1800 for one and 2100 for the other. I thought they must be for miniature Packards at that price, but, he said they were for T's. If that's reflective of what other folks are charging for T stuff, it's no wonder I've been selling stuff steadily since I opened the trailer door!

I have been to Hershey twice to help my employer sell. The first time was nice weather and we had good sales. The second time it was cold and WET. Buyers were 3-4 deep waiting to buy and we had many very $$$ sales. We make more money on wet years than dry years.
