For what purpose would this P-145 been modified like this?
Off the top of my head, I'd say someone wanted a car with a good neutral and Ruckstell gearing. Without the teeth you can't get it into Ford gearing. When you shift forward you place it in neutral. Am I missing something?
Richard, You are right. I just wondered why anyone would want to run one that way.
It looks to me like it was "Modified" by the clutch gear not engaging fully and grinding the teeth away over a period of time. When it got to where it wouldn't pull in Ford high they probably pulled the Ruckstell out.
Stan, It looks to be uniformly ground out with no evidence of the teeth being left. The back side shows very little wear. Over all it looks almost new except lacking the teeth. I wonder if the Ruckstell assembly had been converted to some non-auto application needing a under-drive and neutral?
