I have seen a post in the past ( 2012 or 2013 )about a cross Canada tour . I am in Portage la Prairie , Manitoba and if I remember right , the group will be coming thru Portage around July 10. I would love to have them stop at my place for a pit stop . I have a 1915 touring . I live a mile out of town and have a big yard ( and a inground pool ). I have talked to our local Ford dealer and they are very interested in helping out in some way , maybe even talking to Ford of Canada to get involved. The salesman I talked to was thinking of getting a company from Winnipeg ( about an hour from Portage) called Dannys Hole Hog BBQ to cater , and also have Ford help put with some freebies and so on . Just wondering if the tour was still on and if this would interest anyone
is it to late to sign up? what are the rules? est. cost?
I believe that was something that got rolling via Bob Eric if I remember correctly. I tried contacting him last year and never got a reply. As far as I can tell it's all pooped out.

It would be a great tour. I think more than a few months or years will definitely be needed for the planning stages though.
Just Newfoundland alone takes 12 hours coast to coast non stop at an average speed of 100 km's per hour, "60 mph". That's using the Trans Canada Highway. The old route run's through small out-port communities and doing it in a modern car following the old route would take a couple of days. "Maybe a police escort might speed things up". We'd probably need all summer but what a trip.
If the group is not too big the planning could be fairly simple. It is something that is in my "bucket list"
I would think Halifax to Vancouver would qualify as a coast to coast tour. That is still farther than the O2O tour from New York to Seattle. Otherwise you would have to do Newfoundland to the Yukon.
"The vote is in the tour will start June 27th in Victoria BC and end August 27th in St Johns NL a total of 60 days."

The 2017 tour is for 1982 and older cars. Kind of takes the fun out of it for touring in a '13T. Now the challenge would only be showing that the T is more reliable (which we all know is the truth)!
I see it is 7,800 km (about 5,000 mile) from St Johns NL to Victoria BC. At 300 km per day (average speed of 50 km and 6 hours per day) it is 26 driving days ONE way. So 2 months round trip is probably about right. Obviously some days you will go further, but some days you will need to rest, or heaven forbid, FIX something!!
I would agree with Dave, Coast to Coast is Halifax to Vancouver but if it's Coast to Coast it could also go from New Brunswick to Vancouver. Still the same Coast to Coast. Canada coast to coast is from St John's to Vancouver Island including Prince Edward Island. Depending if you want a Cross Canada Tour or a Coast to Coast tour. "A bit of a difference"
Now for some real fun drive Halifax to Prince Rupert and then up the Dempster highway to Inuvk on the Arctic ocean. Do 3 C's. Looks like about 9000km (5600 miles) one way.

Now to add to the fun, if it was done in the winter time, then we could do the last bit from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk actually on the Arctic ocean (winter road only)
Les, that's a great idea and very Canadian. Lot's of people talk about doing cross country tours but not in the winter. Time for a discounted group buy on side curtains.
I already have my side curtains.
I'll get Wayne from Newfoundland to join me here in Nova Scotia and head out to meet Dave in Hamilton and drive to Jerry's in Manitoba, then on to Garnet's in Saskabush then head to Les in Calgary. From there we can head north to Meet Ken in Red Deer.
There's probably a few more to join in along the way as well.
Always fun to dream
