Anyone know of a site for free phone number look up? Everything I've found wants you to sign up for some service at a cost.

www.411.com. This site appeared on the forum several years ago and is the one I always use as it provides the most information. Jim Patrick

Both of the above links charge a fee to get a phone number. :-(

I just looked myself up through the White Pages link by name and reverse number and there was no charge.

????

I have used the reverse number lookup on white pages for years without a fee.

I just tried them both! No fee for a phone number! If you want advanced information about someone, then there is a fee.

I'm doing something wrong as both wanted a fee for the phone number.

Land lines are free. There is a charge for cellphones numbers.

Try putting in a specific first and last name. When the results come back, there is a link for "View Address & Phone Number" under the name. That should get it for you.

Thanks all. I think Daniel nailed it. I looked myself up and got my phone number OK. The one I have been looking for must have gone cellular. I'll have to resort to snail mail if I remember how. Something to consider before giving up the land line.

Why don't you try Yellowpages.com or http://www.showmelocal.com. I use them mostly to find smaller businesses, maybe they could help you find what you need.

Why not just call them up and ask them their phone number!

Where I used to work, they would test the emergency communication system every couple of months. The test would start with an announcement, then a tone, then another announcement that if the speaker in your area was not working, call security (think about it!)
