Hi All, I am looking for a set of 30x3 1/2 tires, for my 22 Touring that does'nt leave town. Were having a second kid and cant justify the expense of buying a brand new set. Does anyone have a decent set lying around that they would consider parting with?
I have a set of 30 X 3 1/2 Wards Riverside tires. They are old and have about 1/2 of the wear left. Would take $80 plus shipping for the set.
When were the last Riversides made? I have some that were really old 15 years ago, but they are so hard they probably wouldn't come off the rims. Tires harden with age, and lose traction.
Mine were made when Dwight D was in office. They were hard as a warden's heart when new, but they are even harder now.
I just spent close to $700 for four new 30 X 3 1/2 tires and tubes for my T.
The current ones were put on the car before 1964 when it went into storage and I have been doing short trips for about three years.
They have surface cracks and like Royce's have about 1/2 of the tread left.
They are hard but I have been able to change the tubs in two of them without much trouble.
Ralf is concerned about 15 years - mine are over 40 years old ----
The trick is to let them warm up in the sun for a few hours before attempting to dismount or mount them and use the plastic bag technique when mounting them.
I will wait until next spring to mount my new tires because I am in New England and the sun has moved to Florida for the winter.
PS I tried to cobble together a hot tent with lamps etc. without success - but I might try to make a hot box when I have more time!
--- I am half expecting to see a post from Steve Jelf showing how he made a hot box out of various spares he has around the shop!

Joe, if you're in the San Francisco area I'll donate a set that will get you around town. I'm in Hayward.

Joe, take Royce's tires before he changes his mind... Used Wards tires from the 70's & earlier have a good reputation.
Royce, Put me second in line for those tires. If Joe doesn't buy those tires, I will. Send me a PM.
