Found this old hubcap in a pile of stuff the other day and don't have a clue what it came from?? Any one know what vehicle this came from? Or is it a re-pop? Thanks,
Looks like something I remember from the 50's but don't remember the cars. I want to say olds.
Bob
Those were called "flipper" hubcaps from Buicks or Oldsmobiles. Desirable
We used to call them "go fasters".
That is an original custom "flipper" hubcap made by National. It is worth about 75.00 as it is, maybe more to the right person. They were big back in the 40's and 50s on hotrods.
We called them, "Spinners"
Thanks. I knew I'd get some good answers here. I was wondering if the hubcap was for a certain make or model but that isn't the case. Thanks again. By the way, what kind of car is that here with the "spinner" hubcaps? I like the skirts on it.
Looks like a '36 Ford Roadster with a custom grille. Actually, the grille insert looks much like a Packard grille of about the same vintage. Yeah, I remember those "flipper' hubcaps from high school back in the late '50's. Mostly on "shoebox" Fords as I remember.

Dang! Got distracted and did the double post thing again,....sorry!
That's a pretty fancy hot rod. The grill look like it's from a 1941 Packard Darrin Clipper. It's certainly not from any stock Packard.
That "spinner" or "flipper" wheel cover looks like it is an accessory to fit the 1936 to 1939 Ford "wide five" wheels. The lug nuts are way out on the edges of the brake drums.
A Brillo pad should polish up that rusty wheel cover.
