This weekend is the 26th annual speedster endurance run sponsored by the San Diego chapter. It will be out of Alpine with a tune-up run Saturday and a 100 to 120 mile run on Sunday.
This always a fun event for the drivers and mechanics as well and some great BBQ too.
You can find out more information on the club website MTFCSD.
See You There!
Had a fun day today with a short shakedown drive of about 30 miles. Perfect weather in the high 70's low 80's. Tomorrow is the endurance run starting at 8:00 for about 130 miles with awards and BBQ after.
Tony Bowker and friends are doing a great job organizing. I had a nice time chatting with Norm Kling today. Sure is amazing how many friends you keep meeting at the many T events around the country.
I have my 13 year old grandson riding mechanic for me and learning how to give directions, I'm learning patience with his map reading, hee hee.
We have 16 cars on the run, one speedster would not start so he brought his roadster, Ok this once. two others boiled on the shakedown run of 27 miles down to the valley and back to Alpine. Both radiators were flushed by the crew and they will try again tomorrow. One speedster had a flat battery, turns out it is an obsolete motor cycle version, however they found suitable replacement in San Diego after a couple of hours driving around.
Everyone is planning an early bedtime as the run starts with a drivers meeting at 8am. More later
Good luck to all drivers and keep safe. Please post some photos of the event.
Sorry, I didn't know it was a motorcycle battery. We have a motorcycle shop in Alpine. However, the auto parts shop went out of business, so nearest is about 15 miles down the hill.
Here are some pictures my wife took at the first checkpoint.
Well I joined Dave Huson. I have to go to a meeting now. Will try again later.
I was not able to upload the pictures using the usual method, but I copied the link from the upload message to this message and got this picture. Something is wrong with the forum. I tried other pictures which I had previously posted and they would not post either.
These pictures were taken at the first checkpoint where Dolores and I were stationed with Bob Bishop.
Pictures of all the entrants and the results are at the San Diego club web site www.mtfcsd.com
