Shorpy says it is 1910, if so there is a 1914 prototype shown......

I'm not seeing a 1914, but I see several 1912s.

I see a lot of cars, but really not very many of them are Fords. Clarity and depth-of-field make identification of a lot of the cars difficult. I see three definite 1912 T tourings, and I think a 1911 torpedo roadster from the back with a spare tire lashed onto the trunk. I believe there is a Hupmobile runabout in there, but nothing else I can really identify. (Maybe a circa '08 Packard runabout)
Great photo with a lot to look at. Thank you, Royce, for sharing it.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

The first one to the right of the pole is a Stanley. Probably a 10 horse. It's hard to see the coffin nose but that looks like a siphon hose on the side.

Good catch Richard E! I had to go back and look. Looks like a Stanley for sure. I see a few cars that look familiar. Just not enough detail to know for sure.

Interesting to see the transition from horse and wagon on the bottom of the screen to the automobile on the top half.

Notice how there are a hand full of cars but not many people outside? Today, there are cars and people everywhere!

It would be interesting for someone who knows, to count how many model T's there are amongst the crowd of cars.

I love to see the photos of the slow transition between the use of the horse and the conversion to the modern automobile. It had to be trying times for thoes who wanted to moderanize and thoes who still thought the old ways where still the way life should be.

OT--If you look at the top of the photo and next to the flag you will see the steeple of the First Baptist Church. This is the oldest and still actively used Baptist church in the USA. Several years ago, I guess 35, the Rockerfeller foundation gave several million to restore parts of the church. About 50 years ago my father, a general contractor, was hired to replace the bell rope. I worked with him and had the pleasure of climbing up into the steeple to replace the rope. I could feel the wind moving the steeple as we worked. Dick C.

The photo does not say "1910". It says "Providence, Rhode Island, circa 1910". Circa (often abbreviated ca.) means "about". So the claim is that this picture was taken "about 1910". This seems fair to me, of course my level of precision is +/- 100 years!

There are many 1912 or later cars in the picture, so it is definitely not 1910. It is no older than 1912.
