Does anyone know where you can purchase parts for an Atwater Kent ignition system for the model T.
Go to swap meets, and pray (a lot) before you get there.
What model Atwater & what parts you looking for ?
I guess the model is a K-2. I don't know what I may need yet. I am just looking to rebuild it. I am going to order the manuals from Mac's.
Look at what Mac's is selling as it might only be a sales brochure.
Atwater Kent publication K-2 describes the AK LA model distributor and is an install and set up type of write up.
If you are looking for help on what the part number for the rotor, cap, gears are you are out of luck and that is where this 'gods of the swap meets shining favorable comes in'. You can't guess, you need to have the old one with you...or...buy from a guy who is totally familiar with the LA system. Close enough only works with grenades
There is a guy out there who does specialize in AK-LA...ran into him at Hershey last year, got his card but danged if I know where it went...anyway he had good stock on most stuff...mostly good NOS with a few after-market Western Auto type stuff new in box...but boy was he a tad expensive! I think he wanted like 50 for the rotor, over 100 for a cap! (or vice versa) But the parts sure were pretty
I was shopping for my son who basically has a near totally shot AK-LA on his coupe, too sloppy to even try a Petronix conversion to in order to eliminate the points...all said and done...I told him to forget it, buy a new modern clip on that uses Bosch off the shelf parts, would be cheaper in the long run, and the purist (boy that's an oxymoron ) in him as to keeping it the way he got it could be a sideline hobby as he eventually gathered up all that he needed without breaking the bank all at once...just my O2
