Wednesday a bunch of mostly T people from the Carbon Canyon T Club went on a tour to Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park.
Nice sunny day and pretty warm for this time of year.
The pic is on an old bridge over the Carbon River a couple hundred feet over the water.
Stopped for lunch on the way back.
Fun stuff!
Is that a 41 Oldsmobile coup? It looks just like mine!
It's a '46 Ford.
Bob that was a great day and the weather was even better! As many times as I have driven that road it never gets old. We really live in a beautiful area. Thanks for not posting a picture of me trying to crank the Buick this time. Do you have any more pictures of the day or the group?
Mike - Can't agree with you more about the beautiful weather! Interesting how we drove out of a dreary, gloomy morning leaving Orting, then drove up into the glorious sunshine which lasted all afternoon. But the really weird thing for me was that after we all parted company after the great hamburgers at Carbonado, I drove part way home and hit the same damp, dreary, gloom and fog that we had left that morning! When I got home, my wife said to me,....."Sunny? Really? It's been foggy here at home all day long!" Like you said Mike,...."we really live in a beautiful area." Don't know how high we got when we got up into Mt. Rainier Nat. Park, but it was obviously high enough to have become a beautiful day! Weather-wise, that was probably about as nice a tour as I've ever been on! At Carbonado, club "pres" John Aldridge said to me while we were stuffing our faces with burgers & fries,....."sometimes these impromptu tours are the best ones!" (.....I think he's right!)
Kudo's to Bob Gruber and Mike Conrad for organizing this run. We did have a great day for touring and the company was amazing!
Mike & Bob,
Give me a yell next time and I may be able to join you (probably with my coupe, the speedster just went into cold storage for the winter).
Walt
Doh! 425 614-6650 works best
Walt - Why not just join our club and make it official! If you can make it down to Tenino (and you do) you can sure make it down to the Enumclaw/Buckley/Wilkison area and that would be just a nice gentle drive for you from Bellevue! We'd love to have you in our club and you'd be on the mailing list for all of our good secretary's computer "event alerts"! In fact, come to one of our Sat. morning breakfast meetings and I'll buy your breakfast,.....how's that, huh? Think about it,........harold
Oops,....forgot to say our breakfast meetings vary from place to place in the general area I mentioned, and are always at 10:00am, usually the first Saturday of the the month, and yes, Renee always puts out a reminder "event alert" even for our monthly breakfast meetings for those of us old farts that can't remember what day of the week it is!
Hey, I can do that (join and probably make it to a breakfast meeting too). I need to swap the NH off of my coupe for an OF I have on the shelf and it should be ready to go. The NH is OK until the float hangs and it spews gas but the OF is a better carb.
Where is the November meeting?
Hi Walt,
The November meeting is at the White House Restaurant in Bonney Lake.
Nov. 2 at 10 AM.
Everybody that's anybody will be there...except us...we'll be at the Bremerton Swap Meet!
Walt - Have have you got one of those "Grosse Jets" in that NH instead of the usual stock type float valve needle & seat? Seems that lots of folks have trouble with the "Grosse Jet" (sp?) and I personally think the Viton-tipped valve is best, except I'm not sure how they will be long-range with this crappy gasoline with the 10% "corn syrup or whatever in it nowadays! Maybe best of all is just the old original brass float valve & seat! Just a thought,......by the way Walt,......you have mail,......harold
Thanks Bob,.....while I was screwing around trying to send Walt a copy of Renee's latest "club flyer", you answered his question the way I probably could have, and should have, done it! Thanks,....harold
Harold,
Not sure which needle & seat setup is in that one. I had it apart several years ago and it had behaved fairly well until a couple of instances this year when it decided to spew gas. I hate that, especially when it starts overflowing while you are driving and it could start a really nasty fire. The OF was on my touring car and came off for reasons I don't remember. It should be happy on the coupe.
