Going through my first Ruckstell. Took the shifter housing off and found this, I dont see reference to it in my Ruckstell book. The housing didnt have the plunger in it also.
Greg:
What did you want to know about your shift yoke arm. It goes in the improved 26/27 shifter between about 10 flat springs. There is a long 90 degree shift lock arm that goes in the hole and is held in place with a bolt by your index finger. The long shaft from the front shifter is held in place on the shift arm with a clevis,
You are lucky that you have the improved shifter as they are many times safer than the earlier shifter which jumps into neutral a lot.
Dave,
My shifter is missing all the parts but the housing the shift rod and this piece. I have never had one apart. The book doesnt reference this part number, and the parts diagram doesnt show it. I was trying to determine which parts I need to get my shifter back together.
thanks
greg
Here is an older thread with pictures of the late style Ruckstell shifter internal parts: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/50893/79696.html?1233127236
Thank You !
I did a search for that P401 but never came up with that. That is exactly what I needed.
The book is difficult to understand when the parts are missing.
Greg
Greg, We manufacture all of the parts for both the early and late shifters. Let us know if we can help
Greg|
I have been using Chaffin Ruckstell Parts for years and have never had a problem. His parts are are as near perfect as you can get. I wish you were closer I would help you put your shifter together, I enjoy working on Ruckstells as much or more than any thing in a Model T. I have two rukstells in the shop right now that I am working on.

Thank you for the kind words Dave. Glen
Trust Glen! You cannot do better.
Thanks all
Glenn I will be giving you a call for sure.

Couple years ago I sent Glenn a message on his web site over problems with power on a T my dad set up. Almost immediately my phone rang and it was Glenn. We are talking California to Missouri. We talked on his dime for at least 30 minutes. He was very helpful and told me the T should have been capable of 28 hp. He did not have to call me but sure glad he did. He is AOK in my book. Dad may have purchased those accessory parts from Glenn, don't know. Thanks Glenn. Turned out to be a fuel delivery problem.
