Jay Klehfoth, you have to raise an issue with the printers..... again !!
Picture on front cover has been printed...... REVERSED ! .... oooops.
Can't blame the post office...this time ? or did I get a "special" issue ??? worth more in time ?
Great issue, Nice article on Fred Houston & Noel Bullock.... Thanks !!
Bob Jablonski
Geez, didn't see the article on the Reverse Flow T engine. LOL !
Read it backwards. Its so simple guys.
Has anyone else received their new Vintage Ford ?
Nope, I'm probably always last, and probably because my name starts with a "W". That's OK.
I got mine same day Bob got his....I pointed out the backwards cover out to him.....
Looks like it may be reversed to have to Model t on the front of the cover.
I got mine two days ago, but have been so busy rebuilding a T that I haven't read it yet. Just thumbed through it. Please don't criticize Jay. If he quits his job, you might have to do it, and it would be a very hard job to fill his shoes! This year the magazine has improved and I like it.

Steve:
I'm certain that was the decision to use the picture. Great picture anyway ! Gee, I wonder what Bruce would have said ? Probably laughing I'm sure !
I must be blind or just flat out missing something.
I don't "see" anything wrong with mine. I got it 2 days ago, took it out of the envelope and read it and looked it over. Just looked at it again and looks OK. Cover and all. Maybe just some copies were backwards?
Norman:
I enjoy every issue, and you're right in stating the Vintage Ford has improved. Thanks to everyone who have and will submit articles, that keeps the magazine fresh...... and Jay's diligence too !
John K: look at the numeral on the side of the locomotive: it's supposed to be a "14" not a "41" with a backwards "4" not to mention that 99% of all two lane rail crossings in America do not have a crossing gate on the left hand side of the road.
Nothing wrong with a little criticism. Everybody needs it, nobody is immune from it.
It is obvious that if the picture were correct, the T would be on the back, and you'd be wondering why you're getting a Model T magazine with a steam locomotive on the front.
Now, biggest question: was that the reason it was reversed or did it genuinely slip through?
Bob;
I also enjoy every issue. I was surprised when I got my issue so early. They are so far behind from when they used to be.
I have not received mine yet. Do I have to read it in front of a mirror to get it re-reversed?
My Mother in law had a saying about things like this.
"If they are dumb they won't notice, if they are smart they won't say anything".
Dale, I guess many of us aren't very smart but aren't very dumb either. I'm certain Jay did this on purpose and is chuckling at this thread. This is a great issue, especially with the article on the Pikes Peak climb and Steve Jelf's cost conscious repairs. I got the issue today. Too bad some of the rest of you have to wait.
Richard, I think you put the "Rich" on the wrong end of your message assuming everything is backwards.
That's my runabout "Evangeline" on the cover of the Vintage Ford. It took me a little bit to figure out what was wrong with the picture. I sent it at least a year and a half ago - I thought they had long since forgotten about me...!
The first thing that I noticed was that the step plate is on the wrong side of the car. Then I noticed that there was no acetylene generator on the running board either. Then I noticed that I am driving on the wrong side of the road...?
WTF!
I took the picture into my picture editor and spotted a function called "horizontal flip". That was it. But I entirely understand why Jay or whoever did it flipped the picture. Otherwise I would have been on the back cover...!
Oh, well...I guess I should be grateful.
Here is the original picture:
Jon:
Looks great..... from both sides !
A personal '"Thanks" for submitting for publication.
I like it!
Lets give Jay the benefit of the doubt, he deliberately put it backwards to get the Model T on the front. Otherwise he would have to print the whole The Vintage Ford backwards.
Jon, awesome car! Thanks for sending photo in.
Great photo. Looks like my 14 T Runabout except yours is painted and dent less, where is your rust?. Does that mean the person jogging to the right of the train is running backwards?
My thougths in first posting was not on the serious side. There have been other cover shots that have been reversed to fit the suggested format for cover shot submission.
With that in mind, should this be a roadblock for us to consider submitting cover shots ?? ..... NO WAY... but to follow the suggested tips would be better. I have not considered picture submission in the past, but don't let that influence your decision.
I have some ideas for cover pictures, but there's an obstacle. Finding the cars is no problem. There are plenty of good settings. But period clothing can be painfully costly. Yes, I know some modern clothes can be adapted, but some scenes call for the real thing.
I have to be home to check my mail ...
Good Luck with that .....
Jim
I just wish it would arrive here in Fulton Mo
Just read it in a mirror. At least the publishers take the time to utilize any submitted photo. They could have easily passed it over. I'll bet there's plenty to choose from.
I showed my dad Steve's artical and he said,"I cant beleive they printed the pictures of him defaceing money!" I told him the buffalo nickle was not supposed to be in circulation any more. That didnt seem to matter.
Hold a mirror up in front of the reversed page or cover.
My copy came today, already read it, bring on the next one
I can't believe this is such a big deal. It is a real common thing for periodicals: put the subject on the cover.
The only time that defacing money is an issue is when it is being used fraudulently, like making a five look like a twenty.
Mac, I don't think the nickels were defaced. I bet you could still spend them if you ever took them out. How different is this from putting a penny in the wishbone ball socket. That gets truly defaced.
Mack, it isn't just nickels. I used to put pennies on the streetcar tracks...........
Sept-Oct issue? You mean November?
Dan;
No, they are behind a copy(2 months). We should be looking forward to the Nov.-Dec. copy. This all started around 2008.
Got mine yesterday here in Hutchinson, Ks.
It wouldn't be "vintage" if it was on time. :-)
I still do not have mine here in Milwaukee. How long should I wait before contacting Jay?
I don't have mine yet in SC.
I just received mine yesterday. I guess it takes a long time for the Pony Express to make it to Arkansas.
The Vintage Ford is printed here in Bakersfield Ca. about 3 miles from my house . I have not received my copy yet. Maybe I should walk over and pick one up. Ha Ha
I have mine down under and it looks perfectly OK to me for once we have a RHD car on the cover; what are you whinging about?
Got mine two days ago in Milwaukee. Sorry Dave, you must have local delivery issues.
Mine arrived today here in New Zealand. A very attractive RHD Roadster. I'll read it tonight.
All I had to do was make a comment. Arrived today.
It only looks RHD because the picture's reversed. But you know it's a US car because it's not upside down.
If it was ''down under'' gravity would not hold a train engine of that weight
