Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2013: Cast Iron " Z " Head

I have a cast iron cylinder head with a Z raised letter. Can someone tell me more about this head and if its any different than any other cast iron head. The head was re-surfaced at one point and has some surface rust, but the machining looks good. I'm told it's better and smoother than when ford put them out and about $100 to re-surface so that adds some value as it will clean up easy enough. Looking for info on this head and what it might sell for. Thanks

Like I said, "i'm told $100 to resurface...." Not that "i paid" or "i want $100".... Any other input is greatly appreciated.

Matt:

Just a little rust cleans up with steel wool.

Steel ruler across head at various points will tell you if it's straight.

But it comes with a water outlet.......

I have seen one recently that had an "X" mark. I assume the whole alphabet was used along the way.

Value $20 on a good day, no buyers at all on most days - they're plentiful out there.

I think I paid $30 with tax and gas expense to have mine resurfaced.
