Hello All,

A few months ago I rebuild a Master Coil and make it work on my 1922 rebuilding project.
To complete the rebuild I am looking for a copy of the writing in the lid of these coils about the adjustment of the coil. I am also missing one of the brackets to fix it on the dash.

Has someone experience with running a Master Coil in his car? How should it be done?

Next year it will be 100 years the Great War 1914/18 started here in Belgium. In the "Westhoek" around Ieper on the old front lines there will be a few commemorations. One of these will be a drive on the 10th of May by the AFCB ( Ancient Ford Club Belgium).
I should like to take part of it with the rebuild project with the master coil.
Hope someone can help me to find the missing parts and walk me through the way it should be used.

Andre

Andre, the last two sentences suggest that K-W made this Master Vibrator. They were made by 10 or more companies.

You will first have to determine who made this one to get the rest of your directions.

Here is a start on the note.

See complete instructions in catalog or in Master Vibrator folder.

To Adjust Vibrator When Necessary,

place the 1-64” gauge (which will be found in small envelope)
between the contact points and turn down on adjusting screw
until you just can pull out the gauge easily. This gives the
proper distance for the armature or bottom spring to travel.

Do not hammer the points flat as this will spoil the adjust-
ment. Hone them with a fine flat file when necessary.

While there is no guarantee on contact points, they should,
With proper adjustment last about 5,000 miles.

When the contact points wear out secure complete new
Springs – do not solder new contacts to old Springs, as solder
destroys the contact. The springs will become bent and “Cushion
Effect” destroyed by putting new contacts on old springs.

K-W Contacts are the hardest Points made, and will out-
last several pairs of soft Platinum Points. All K-W Contact
Points are packaged in sealed envelopes. See that the seal on
back is not broken.

K-W Contact Points complete with springs, $3.00 per
Pair.

Then too, this Ad posted on this Forum in March 2013 suggests that you have a K-W Master Vibrator.

Thanks James,
Yes it is a K-W Master Vibrator Coil I rebuild.
I cleaned up the contacts and changed the capacitor by a new one from John Reagan.
On the March forum about the Master Coil there is an other add that speaks about the adjustment. Should this be the paper Inside the lid??
photos are from the rebuild unit and the way i bought it. The switch cover is new and not the right one. As soon as I will find the right one I will change it.

Andre, here is the complete message, but it probably didn't belong in the coil box.

NOTICE

The K-W Master Vibrator is connected in between the coil
and the battery or magneto. Connect the magneto and the
battery, if it is used to the Master Vibrator and connect the middle
binding post of Master Vibrator to one of the battery binding
posts of the coil.

Short circuit vibrators on coil by either screwing them down
Tight or better by copper wire shunts. See complete instructions
in catalog or in Master Vibrator folder.

Be sure to give number of Master Vibrator when ordering
when writing.

Andre, I could not find an original catalog or a better picture, but this appears to be the paper that should be in the top of your box.
