Stan,
I just got a Wheeler Schebler "Ford A" model. Everything looks like it's in nice condition. Just wondering what your opinion is of the W-S carbs.
Also, are there any problem areas common to these? Anything I should check out in particular?
Thanks!
They are pretty good. Some of them have some pot metal parts and some are all brass. I've forgotten which does and which doesn't.
Send me a photo @stanhowemt@aol.com and I'll tell you whatever I can about it. Or just post it here.
I have a Schebler on my '29 A and love it.
I never saw a Wheeler Schebler A carb but I never met a Tillotson or Zenith I liked.
We ran one in the '99 Greatrace. It has a bigger throat than the OF, so more power and less fuel economy. Mine had a leaky brass float, which I'll write about again someday..
Craig,
I think the model A designation refers to the carb itself and not a Model A Ford.
Stan,
I'll try to post a photo as soon as I can...
Thanks!
That's right, mine was Model FA, all brass, definitely not modren Model A era. No reason you couldn't run it on an A, though.
