I had to share this with you guys. This is a short film of Dave Becherer arriving at the Alton Square Mall as Santa Clause in his Model T. Dave saw my wife and I in the Muny Opera with our T in June of 2012. He got enthused with getting a touring for himself and contacted me thru the Muny.
The first time I saw him was in early July 2012 when he came to visit me wearing a red hat, red short, red shoes and a poinsettia shirt. Dave lives Christmas all year long. I took him for a ride in my car and showed him several other body styles. He wanted a touring. He left me with his name and number.
Several weeks later I got a call asking how much to fix a touring that had thrown several magnets from the magneto. I gave them a base price but cautioned them that the more I got into it the more I would find and the more it would probably cost. They decided to sell.
I put the seller and Dave in touch, and even though I told Dave he would invest more than the the car would be worth to restore it, Dave bought it.
Dave had the body work done, Very Expensive, and the interior and roof and side curtains done while I did the engine and transmission. I will say that being a retired school teacher and principle that had never turned a wrench before, Dave worked very hard and very smart in getting the car back together. He was at my house almost every day.
First start was Saturday 11-16-2013. Dave danced a jig when the engine started. Dave took it home the Wednesday after and used it to arrive the following Saturday.
I took charge of the car when Dave went in and put it on display most of the day, then took it to his home for him.
\Below is a link to a facebook page with a short movie of his arrival. The beginning shows a very short picture of the car when it was first bought.
Hope you enjoy.
That's great, Did he know that just one won't due. He will need one for St Patrick Day, New Years, and all the holidays that he may participate in over the year.
Wish Him well for us.
