Now that winter is here, decided I needed to check the thrust washers on my 1924 touring.Thought maybe better to install my `26/`27 big drum rear end (replaced it with a ruxtel) and have the advantage of better brakes. Its complete with the driveshaft and radius rods--ready to bolt in. Any problems I should anticipate with this? Do I need to check it for thrust washers, also or are the later rearends OK?Thanks--Paul
I'd look inside.
You will need the shorter 26-7 brake rods.
Paul Griesse:
Steve Jeff is correct! NEVER,NEVER,NEVER Just put in a rear axle without taking it totally apart.
I have a large drum Ruckstell in my 24 touring. I did shorten the brake rods. I know of one in a 14 touring in our club. Its an easy swap.
