Ford won, but was disqualified for changing the engine in Ohio.

Whether he ever gave back the winning trophy or what happened to it after his disqualification was announced is evidently still a mystery.

They a a type of rim (other than clincher). The "stems" are part of a system to hold the tire on rim. There have been a few threads on them over the years. Our Model N has the holes (plugged) where the fasteners passed through the felloe. I'll try to find a better pic,
