I have a question about the difference between 1914-15 top bows. From what I found researching the issue the front 1914 touring bow is longer than the 1915 touring front bow. Is the socket actually longer or is the wood bow longer? Also does the difference in length apply to 1914-15 runabouts also? I would appreciate any info and especially measurements of both the socket, wood bow and total bow lengths. Hope to sort out my sets and see if I have the right ones. Thanks in advance for the help everybody.

1913-14 are the same; both front sockets are 26" long. The '15 front socket is 23" long. All of this is per Ford.

The wood bow is the same, and is driven into the socket for the same distance, but the end result is that the 1915 assembly is 3" shorter than in '13-'14 when the correct bow is used.

R.V.

Thanks for the information on the difference between the 1914 & 1915 front bows. I have to check my "pile" of stuff and see if I have the correct length 1914 sockets. I'm in good shape for the 15 runabout: I restored the correct set with new wood bows. For the 14 touring I have a NOS socket set but looks like the front one is shorter--so guess they are 15. If I don't have the longer front ones in my "stuff", I'm debating on doing a bit of body work and making 3" additions to the front sockets I have. Prefer to find pair of 26" sockets if possible. Thanks again for the info--very much appreciated.

Dennis

Dennis, I have one longer one that I would trade for the shorter one, would have to look to see what side I have. I was just going to cut it down for when I needed it but this could work out better!
