How do i remove the rear bearing sleeves ? I bought the sleeve puller from Langs but the little hole on the side is a lot smaller than the pull pin in the puller. The hole in the new sleeves will fit the puller.
Did you remove the grease cups?
Yes they are out.
thats strange... i have found that if/when you get it locked into position, a spinning motion makes it much easier. If that hole is smaller than it is certainly an oddity. the good news is that as you are replacing them, dont feel bad if you butcher them trying to get them out. i would make double or triple sure the hole is the wrong size. is there something in the way/covering part of the hole? Are you totally unable to click the puller into the hole?
It is likely caked grease. Try a piece of coat hanger wire to clean it out a bit.
Boy do feel stupid ! Dang grease !
Greg, I hate that grease. I pulled mine last week. I had one sleeve that was very difficult to pull. I finally sprayed a little WD 40 on and around the sleeve and it pulled right out.
that grease can get THICK over time! clean it all out and go back with good stuff
Thanks guys !
Gary, there are several knowledgeable Model T owners right under your nose in the Knoxville area that can give you some help and good advice. I'm on the other side of the state. Good luck,
