Disteel brand pressed-steel automobile wheels were manufactured by the Detroit Pressed Steel Company, and were introduced in 1917.
A coupe on the Leaf Peeper Tour a couple of years ago.
I'd love that in my garage!
Love those coupes! Looks like the hood and maybe the radiator cover have been replaced. Everything else looks very faded.
The wheels certainly change it's personality. Cute tail light too.

Jay, you do not have to find old pictures to show Disteel wheels. My aftermarket coupe has them.
I don't know but I am going to try that Leaf Peeper Tour picture again. The picture was taken above Grand Lake half way up to the top of Trail ridge.
Those wheels were $75 for a set of five, no wonder they are so rare.
Back in 1969 or 70, I bought a 16 touring out of Colorado that had Distells and the correct spare tire carrier on it. I wanted to put it back as original as possible and took them off and put on a set of correct wheels. I had no idea what they were worth and advertised them in Hemmings for $100.00 for the set. A buyer from here in Texas, drove a 100 miles to get them. When he arrived and pulled out his wallet, he handed me five $100.00 bills, I was a little stunned, but seconds later, before he could realize my surprise, I realized that he must have thought that by $100.00 per set, that I meant each wheel and hub assembly was one set. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I meant $100.00 for everything !
