Should a brake pull rod be a "drop in fit"? Or do you have to bend and tweak it some to make it fit? I would think the rod and the ends fit with no tension on them??
How far from the rear should the rod hangers be?
Working on my 21,installed a 27 rear.
The ends might need a bit of tweaking depending on your camshaft pulls, but should be pretty much drop in. Just make sure you get the 26-27 rods since you have that rear.
The hangers are pretty much only going to work in one spot. If you try to move them further forward or back the rods will bind up and not slide.
Fred, Seth did not mention that the 26-7 big brake drum rods are shorter then the earlier ones. That's why you need 26-7 rods to match your rear end.
Hope this helps.

Thanks this will help. I happen to have a set.
Fred Wicker:
I find that I almost always have to cut about 3/4" off the end and run the thread down an equal amount.

Also the 26/27 brake rods are STRAIGHT
I just cut off and rethreaded my rods when I put a large drum rear axle on my 24. I also have a early forged end brake rod which I used on my 27 coupe. Brakes rods are easily made or hand fitted as needed.
I went out in the shed and found a nos set I had picked up at a Auction. The fit looks right and there was a pair of supports out there also!
